This will be posted for the benefit of those who haven't read the last news post:|
The directory (search) is up and running, and is currently only serving paid accounts, permanent accounts, and early adopter accounts. Once it is completely optimised and we can dedicate another server or two, it will be opened up to all accounts, with free accounts only having a limited subset of access.
Enjoy the new paid feature :-)
province/state name formats should be stadardized.
if i do a search for: winnipeg, mb, canada i get 31 results
if i do one for: winnipeg, manitoba, canada i get 489 results
I got the same results for 'IN' as I did for 'Indiana.' Maybe it just works for American states.
Very cool, especially the trained monkeys...where do you get them from anyway??? j/k, thanks so much

I tried the search
for LJ users in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and got 0 matches. I get the same result when I search for for users in the entire province of Ontario. I know that can't be right...
This is neat and all, but how do I opt out of it?
I'd rather some people not be able to locate my journal via a search like this.

Re: One Question....
I'd like to echo the sentiment of others looking for a reprise of the 'find users with most interests in common' feature.

Yeah Yeah Yeah!!! Putting my money to good use! (;
i was just wondering how come when i do a directory search for a city (ex. Williamsburg, Virginia, United States or Blacksburg, Virginia, United States) i get 0 matches (i've tried other cities too), but when i go to the region map and click on virginia, i get results with people that live in these cities? i have also tried a search for Virginia, United States and got 0 matches. i have tried this over the past two days at various times and keep getting the same results.
I've already found some journals I've added to friends. I do notice that i'm not having any luck combining state with anything else in a search.

i dont know who to ask but i am having a problem
my friends can not see my posts after a certain date on their friends page. why?
i have all of them on public security and i am really clueless on why it is acting up?
about two or three days ago was the last post they can see of mine, after it has just been on my journal only and people thought i stopped writing?

Is there a Permanent Accounts Group?
I became a Permanent Account, just a week or so ago. Is there an LJ Group specifically for Permanent Accounts?
when i try to search on city, state, country and also change the sort method to user name i get no results but i get plenty of results when i sort by posting time
(usa, florida, jacksonville)
question......how does one aquire a permanent account?
Hey, I'm a paid account...but when I try to do a "region" search, a page pops up telling me that I don't have that type of account. What gives?
Exactly what does my membership cover? Just having a journal? I'd like to see if other friends from around here have journals too.
Can someone help me? I'd appreciate it :o)
