You're the greatest! Thanks!
First CGI I ever wrote, actually. Just keep passing it around amongst hosts. Great for debugging.
I can't get it to switch servers. It keeps telling me I'm on "bebe".
Ok, never mind. I logged out and restarted my computer and that seems to have fixed the problem.
am i being dumb or something? how can you tell what server you're on, whereabouts is it? how did that person up there ^^ know they were on "bebe" ? i seem to remember once before you saying to look for ljfastserver=1... well i have that at least. does that mean im okay?
The very first line will clue you in. For me, it was originally the wrong server. I logged back in, and now the page starts with this line:

How come at least 3 free servers have different paths? (this computer normally isn't surfing lj, so havn't re-logged in yet)
PATH = /sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/lj/bin
PATH = /sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin
PATH = /sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/lj/bin:/home/lj/bin

Re: How come?
FreeBSD vs. Debian
great work! may i ask how you name your servers? superheros, sport figures, what? at work i tend to go with the obvious, for instance, my new gateway is bessie (typical cow name) but i'm intreged- are they named after real people? keep up the great work!

I was going to drop you an email to keep down the clutter here, but it looks like you get too much email to begin with. So thanks to you and your team. I know it must have been a heck of a intense effort to get things sorted out on a Saturday. I found it amusing that XP has LiveJournal-like user icons on the login screen. Have a good and uneventful weekend.
Well, first I was hitting Ike. Then I logged out and back in, and I was still hitting Ike. ...then I decided to hit 'refresh', because that would be the intelligent thing to do. Now, I am hitting Sheila.
...it's all so, so...violent....
I love it. *g*
And I'm on her good and tight. She's fast.
The connection *FEELS* good.
Mmmm.... I hope Sheila likes the way my hands are covering the software... mmmmm

Weird . . .
I'm connecting to the right server and all, but . . .
When I looked at this entry on my friends page, none of the links worked, except to your journal and to this community - the links you put in to run the dump.cgi program, to log out and the links to view/post comments didn't work. I pass my cursor over them, and it stays an arrow. All the other links on the page work fine.
I am able to use the links (obviously) if I look at the post in the paidmembers community page.
I'm on a Mac, OS 9.1, with IE 5.0 SR1.
Anyway, thanks to you and Dormando for all your hard work . . .
You guys and Shelia rock!
Thanks for the speed..
Brad I love you and all, but are we ever gonna have a directory? It was like the best feature.
i couldn't agree more.. i weep and mourn the loss of it.... glad i'm not the only one who misses it.

i had to re-login to get the paiduser servers.
on the up-side, the free servers seem nice and fast too - i hadn't noticed any problems while i was on them :)

"add gif locking up my Explorer"
I am on an iMac and am a paid member. I don't know why I am having troubles as other people are not... (people I paid for too!)
Everything loads in very slowly now... sometimes not even fully (the pictures).
Plus if I try to view comments, the viewing page will start to load in and then get to something called "add gif" and flat out stop loading! My explorer will no longer work and I have to force restart my computer, even though the mouse is still moving. I tried adding memory to the Explorer part if my computer and that has not helped. Any ideas? Is it LJ or my computer? The computer is practically new and worked just great before. :(
