You all are doing a fine job! Don't let anyone convince you otherwise! Thank you for creating a *wonderful* world to enjoy!
P.S. Can we possibly make the interests areas larger than listing 150??? Pweeze?!?

you can always put intrests in your bio if you *really* need to have them in there....
Although I've been getting mightily annoyed at how slow LJ has been running as of late, or rather *when* it is running at all...I must admit that I'm more than impressed with all the work you have been doing toward fixing these things. Thank you for putting in the effort. ::grins:: Keep it up!
how come when i try to update i keep getting this:
(report this) Database error (hlnv): Duplicate entry '19600075' for key 1
i don't get it... i typed out my entry, and i tryed to post it, and the 'sorry, overloaded' page came up, and then i went back and tryed to re-post it about 2 hrs later (i'm a paid member btw) and now it keep getting that... it wont let me post ANYTHING....
You need to report this to support. Most likely something got fowled up in regards to database replication during all the fixes and errors like this need to be handled on a one-by-one basis.
Thank you soooo much. Your hard work is so very appreciated by me. Following is a post from my journal cause I got sick of seeing my friends list littered with negativity.
Ok, so LJ is acting goofy again... big deal. The world is not ending because LJ is down, no one is dying, no one is suffering (except for maybe Brad and Co. who are slaving away trying to make this service work for everyone). It makes me really sad to see all these people bickering and complaining. Yes, I agree the outages are on the annoying side, and I too have had to painstakingly wait in hopes that so and so has commented to my post and I've gripped my fingernails into my own flesh awaiting the latest synopsis in the Big Brother community... ok maybe I haven't... but doesn't that sound pathetic? Yes, I said pathetic.
I have a paid account and every time there were outages, time has been added to my paid account. I think that is more than fair. Apparently many of the members of this community have forgotten that this "business" is a "mom and pop" affair. The guys that run this service have put so much time and effort and probably money as well into LJ. They are probably more irritated by the outages than us, and they have to deal with the brunt of the rude and insensitive comments.
This service isn't Amazon, it isn't AOL, and it isn't Microsoft. It doesn't have millions of dollars and thousands of corporate assholes to run it. LiveJournal has the support of its members, and a handful of really cool and generous people who keep it going. Is it so hard to be supportive in the bad times as well as the good? Stop your belly-aching already and get over it. In the scheme of life, not being able to post shouldn't be this catastrophic, and if it is, you need more help that an online journal community can offer...
HEH .. I get better service here than I got from Earthlink. Keep up the good job ... Its a real bargain.
let there be no guilt because quite frankly: you rock.
oh, and a huge belated CONGRATULATIONS on the Webbys..
THANK YOU TEAM LIVEJOURNAL!
I would of made a comment earlier, but then it said "Sorry...." lol
I say Brad and them add a lot of features...try to keep the site working for a month, announce that the whole site will become paid users, and give them a 15 day warning...that will cut down on the down servers, and all the jouralist will want to come be a paid member since they will get addicted like the rest of us and want the features...and then, that means more cash flow.

No offense but ummm well, 10 days of free service doesn't make up entirely for the last 26 days of server hell. I know you guys are working hard however this is getting ridiculous. Every other day something new is going on. What about turning off access to the people that do not have paid accounts so that at least those of us that help pay the bills can continue to use the service? It would help get more people to pay, it would also keep the already paid users able to use it. Frankly I think its bullshit that people that paid get just as many errors and just as many server down messages.
We're going to be posting some news shortly here about our plan.
It's been said before and I don't have a more oringial way of saying it but still wanted to give my appreciation:
Thank you all for putting so much time and effort into keeping this site going!!!

Livejournal crew = rules! (nt)
nt = no text, hyeh.
Well, not the hyeh, part.
Oh, no! There's text here!
*gives a big ole thanks for the ten day credit* :-)
Thanks tons guys. You all work super hard to keep things working right. Just wanted to let you know that at least one person appreciates it
Why don't you let me run the site?
I can handle the 60 per second clicks and still continue with the mission...
-end of transmission.

Okay, I'll join the choir: thank you so much for al lthe work that you've been doing here. I'm often sorry that I don't have the technical expertise to do more than pay and shaddap when LJ's down because I've found this system to be such an amazing haven, but I'm amazed by all the volunteer effort you've put into it.
You guys do indeed rock!
I don't know how the "extra paid credit" tradition got started, but I think it's wonderful of you to have instituted it. I'm sorry that you're getting so much flack, but if it helps at all, whenever I notice that the site's down, I always picture you guys emitting an anquished "Aw, fuck!", sighing, and going right back into the breach.
I'm glad LiveJournal made out well in the Webbies. You guys deserve it.

-- I turned off new account creation yesterday to stop growth while we worked on things.
I'm sure a lot of people will not agree... But I think that is the smartest thing I have read here in awhile. Me and some friends were talking about this just yesterday.
Limiting new users (or at least the number of new free accounts) for just awhile - long enough to work on the site for awhile = YAY Brad (and others).
