|View Friends Page by Date
||[Dec. 18th, 2008|05:30 pm]
If you've ever been away from LiveJournal for more than two weeks or you've missed more than 1,000 entries on your friends page, you might wonder what entries you've missed (those are the current limitations on friends pages).
Paid Account holders can now view their friends list for a certain day by appending the date to the URL of their friends page: http://exampleusername.livejournal.com/friends/?date=YYYY-MM-DD. This will only show entries from those you currently list as friends, and will order the entries by server time.
EDIT: Editing to add new information. This feature does not work for users who have an S1 layout. Since S1 is no longer supported, developers will evaluate whether it is feasible to make it available in S1.
this is great! I've been needing something like this for a while!
YAY!! :D we usually go w/o internet for a few days, so this will save me time of going through tons of communities to see what i missed. so thanks~ :D
Thanks. That's a great feature.
Next on the wishlist: being able to do string searches on my friends page.

It is such a pity that this only goes half way and does not let us view our FP chronologically from a date onwards, e.g.http://exampleusername.livejournal.com/friends/?date=YYYY-MM-DD&chrono
Also, it would be more useful if it let me read that dat's LJFriends posts in time order instead of still in reverse.
Just my 2¢, of course.Edited at 2008-12-19 05:27 pm (UTC)
This is great.
Though what I'd really like would be tools to view my friends pages/filters/whatnot usenet style -- time-ordered forward, stable, and post based.
That way, when I got behind, I could just go to the last post I saw (or a bookmark containing it), and start viewing sequential pages after that post, neither getting thrown off by new posts (go home during catchup, come back to a page 3 pages back from where you started -- or ten) nor getting posts backward. Not to mention, fiction in "backwards time ordering" is nigh-unreadable, whereas forward ordering would get it right.
Yay, a useful feature! :D
OMG this is an amazing feature and will help me more than you can believe, thank you so much ♥
That's wonderful news. I hope the developers will make it available to those of us still using S1.
This is fantastic! I'll definitely be putting this to use!
Ooooh, I am totally meming this. I have the exact same issue from time to time. I don't know if I could ever catch up on 1,000 posts, though.

Very nice indeed. I assume it works on server time, rather than date the user entered as the post date, like the regular friends page ordering does. What timezone is it using (i.e. if I specify 2007-12-25 is that going to be 2007-12-25 00:00-23:29 GMT or PST or what?)
