|Extension for Power Outage
||[Jul. 31st, 2007|11:39 am]
LiveJournal was unavailable between approximately 2pm and 9pm PDT on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. We want to apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this caused. Please visit the news post for full details.|
The outage was beyond our control. However, we value the support of our Paid members and want to compensate you for the window of time where the site was not accessible. Anyone who was an active Paid member as of any time Tuesday, July 24, 2007 is eligible for a 3 day extension of Paid time. You can claim this extension anytime from now until 12:01 GMT on August 6th.
The extension isn't automatic so that people who weren't affected can have the option to choose whether or not they want an extension. You can choose to claim your extension by going to this page: http://www.livejournal.com/pay/claim.bml

Goodbye - Please read my open letter
Six Apart and Livejournal staff, please read my open letter explaining why I'm leaving.
Also, if the Pepsi v-gifts are "sponsored products" why is it when I block the address "http://sixapart
.net/iserver/" that I don't see them any more? Adbureau
: if "ad" doesn't stand for "advertisement", what does it stand for?
Please remove your advertisements from my paid account. I'm paying to not have advertisements. If they are not removed that falls under "services not rendered" and it can be filed for.
Is there some reason why I am not immediately getting an email notification to lj comments anymore? Sometimes I am not getting them in my mailbox for eight hours or more later.
I have changed no settings this just started happening yesterday.

I'm too lazy to see if this has been pointed out already, but the power out was completely within your control. It's called "not keeping all your eggs in one basket." What kind of blockbuster web app relies on a single data center? That's retarded business, and it's why I'm not renewing my paid account.
Hey - since this power outage there are users who are not receiving their comments. No where is this addressed and there are no helpful support articles/FAQs. Is Livejournal aware of this? Is Livejournal doing anything to assure that everyone's journals are performing the way they're supposed to after this outage?
NOT GETTING MY COMMENTS IMMEDIATELY EMAILED TO ME OR NOTIFICATION OF NEW SUBSCRIPTIONS IS ANNOYING.
I am not getting some for 24 hours or longer now.
Please fix this.
yeah I missed the window...is there anyway i can still get it?
also I dont get notifications or comments or anything....
why? because I never recieved the notification about this.... its annoying and ive been with you guys since 2002
I am so extremely frustrated that I have to check paidmembers
all the time to see if I can be reimbursed for outages. I was annoyed by the outage but was busy getting married and going on my honeymoon the entire time that I could have gotten the extension. Personally, I would prefer that you automatically credit our accounts, rather than giving us the option to claim an extension.
Businesses like "Blizzard", who run games like World of Warcraft, give paying members free time for mistakes quite often. I remember they used to give users of a particular servers that often went down, free days all the time. They'd often give 3 free days for only hours of downtime.
This is probably the wrong place to ask this, but how do I change the date of my automatic payments? I know the site claims you can turn automatic payments on or off at any time.
On the top bar, click "account". On the menu that comes up on the next page it'll have "Username:", "Email", "Password", and "Level". Click on the "view status" link next to your account level. On the next page you should be able to change it there, if you can. I don't know if/how you can change the date itself.
Thanks! I couldn't find a place to change the date, but I got the rest of it figured out. =D
