|Extension for Power Outage
||[Jul. 31st, 2007|11:39 am]
LiveJournal was unavailable between approximately 2pm and 9pm PDT on Tuesday, July 24, 2007. We want to apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this caused. Please visit the news post for full details.|
The outage was beyond our control. However, we value the support of our Paid members and want to compensate you for the window of time where the site was not accessible. Anyone who was an active Paid member as of any time Tuesday, July 24, 2007 is eligible for a 3 day extension of Paid time. You can claim this extension anytime from now until 12:01 GMT on August 6th.
The extension isn't automatic so that people who weren't affected can have the option to choose whether or not they want an extension. You can choose to claim your extension by going to this page: http://www.livejournal.com/pay/claim.bml
Thank you as well! I always forget to bookmark the compensation page, so that was super-helpful as well. I'm glad I chose this site to host my blog.
I just took on HP Fandom, in a sense, regarding a certain racist term. But HP Fandom is Fandom. And I'm a part of Fandom.
You've still not defined your policies on what is or is not acceptable. You've not properly modified your TOS to reflect that.
YOU HAVE HOWEVER PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED TWO HP FANDOM ARTISTS!
Where did you learn proper business practices and ethics again? Did you pick up stamps that fell off the back of a truck?!
You are going to lose business. Adult hosting websites are going to gain business. As will journal software creators.
You'll be belly-up, from an overflow of free teenage eyeballs who have no real interest in developing and maintaining a sense of community, in about two years, maybe less.
I am not renewing my paid time for my personal journal, my comics journal, my rp journals or my fiction journals.
But before I leave, I advise you to not touch the journals of fannish people who've died, whether or not they have 'now questionable material up'.
You won't survive the shitstorm.
PS: I guess this means the originally wrongly banned journals aren't getting any kind of compensation.
Wonderful. Oh wait no it's now Wonderful. Cause strike to bold really solves the problems of bad customer service.
I hear they've suspended [Bad username: Pornish Pixies]
now, too. We will not be silenced.

What compensation will paid members receive when their accounts are suspended without warning?
Thank you guys, I really appreciate this!
I'm annoyed that I'm not considered eligible for paid time because my paid time is a gift of leftover time from a permanent account - but the permanent account is ALSO me! I gave another account of mine my leftover time, and now I am shafted the three days. Phooey.
(Okay, three days isn't really a big deal, but it's the principle of the thing.)
You know, I received time as a gift, and I'm not eligible either. I was wondering about that.
Thanks for the extension!
But the last time there was an extension I extended my paid time by (a week I think it was that time) but when it came up for the paid account renewal time it still renewed on my old paid account expiry date (May 5th instead of the 12th) Is there a way to make sure that the automatic paid account payment thing is done now for the 8th instead of the 5th so I don't loose my extra time again?
LJ couldn't do this automatically as a nice customer service benefit?
If you're following the Strikethrough and boldtext/whatever wanks, you'd see that customer service isn't their strong point.
Thanks so much for the offer, but I'll pass. I had absolutely no idea this even happened until after LJ was back, so no skin off my back.
...that, and I don't want to throw off my payments for my account and the extra userpics.
I'm gonna be rich now! :)))))))
I was an active paid member before then, so why am I not eligible?
I deeply regret ever giving LJ my money considering the asshattery going on right now.
Will there be compensation for the current anti-fandom atmosphere on LJ? Fandom is the only reason I'm on LJ at all. Fandom is why I paid for an account. Fandom is why I purchased extra icon space.
