|This Time It's Permanent

Hey everyone. I wanted to give you a quick heads up that we just announced details of the Permanent Account sale in news. Click over to read all the details! There's also a related post in lj_biz.|
Well if it works for you it works for you. But people should think about it before they go and give LJ $150.
ive been on lj over 8 yrs, about 6 of those years as a paid member. i really wanted to secure a permanent a couple years ago.
when they first announced theyd be selling them soon, i had mixed feelings. i had wanted one for so long, but i was starting to be less pleased with the service. then more outages cames. then all the drama with suspended accounts. lj is different now. they are moving in directions they never used to. they are trying to create their own business rather then letting their users create the community on their own. there is a heavier hand, much less control, and far more problems.
permanent account? i say no thanks. now that this place is no longer community run, and 6A apparently does whatever they want, whenever they want, and nothing to take care of their longtime users, i feel zero desire to support it. ill stick around because i have a 100 friends here, but theres nothing worth paying for anymore. i am hoping to find a better service soon (havent even looked yet though) and migrate everyone there :p

And I happen to agree with you on this. I got a permanent LJ a few years back, long before 6A took over. Not too long after that, small changes and lack of support started to creep in.
As much as I understand that the servers belong to them, they have imperiously suspended accounts (have since backpedaled) just recently for have the 'wrong interests' listed. Before that, it was deciding that a picture of a nursing baby was right up there with someone flashing their genitals.
They lost the plot somewhere along the lines. I have two other weblogs that I post to simultaneously when I post to LJ, that aren't quite as old, so I used LJ Book to make a full back up of LJ, just in case I let it go idle.. permanently.
