I am pretty sure you won't be all that missed.

Strikethough '07..do you realise how wanktastic that sounds?

I think it's a reasonable complaint. Since 6A took over LJ have acted in an increasingly 'corporate' manner, they don't seem to be connecting with and understanding their user base as much as they used to.

Hey you don't want to support a company you don't agree with fine. But please, there are -real- freedom of speech issues out there.

And they aren't "ZOMG teh great strikethrough of 07"

Rather than repeat all the issues, "Strikethrough of 07" can reference the response to a freedom of speech confrontation on LJ in late May.

I know exactly what it refers to. It is still wanktastic and a storm in a teacup.

How about you get upset over -real- freedom of speech issues. And quick legal lesson. You don't have freedom of speech on a private companies servers

I said it was a reasonable complaint, and it is. When ter36 explained why he/she isn't going to be giving 6A any more money it highlights to other users and to 6A why their bank balance is going to take a hit from the way they treat their userbase. Ultimately (hopefully) this will lead to them changing (although I doubt it).

"There are -real- freedom of speech issues out there"
I didn't specifically say my complaints were about freedom of speech (indeed that's a peculiarly American idea). It's not like we have a limited amount of energy to 'fight' these things anyway. For people who have invested a lot of time and energy into LJ they're not going to want to just walk away from it, they want to speak out about the problems and hope that things change back to how they were.

Yes, because a rape survivor (several, actually) getting their journal suspended because they mentioned 'rape' in their interests without any form of recourse at the time or any description as to why they were being lumped in with some genuine pedophiles and a whole lot of fandom, isn't a valid freedom of speech issue.

Well done.

Thank you. After its initial meaning and use I have found it comes in handy for other things as well. :)

Well, of course you won't miss me. You're not on my Friends list.

No. The phrase was also picked up by online media sites as a shorthand to reference the events in that time period. Slang can be annoying, but it does characterize events in fewer words.

'wanktastic'? Ah the irony of attacking the use of a neologism with a neologism.

Strikethrough '07 is a widely accepted name amongst various media (not exclusive to the blogosphere) for this event, whereas wanktastic is just an insult of 5 year old proportions.

If you disagree with the post, fine, but try to do it in a grown up and reasoned manner, that way people might actually care about what you say.
