|beta testing: toll-free voice posting
||[Jan. 26th, 2007|05:34 pm]
Earlier today we'd found that our voice post phone numbers weren't accepting calls. We're working with our provider to get the problem fixed as soon as we can. In the meantime, hachi rushed to finish setting up a different method of voice posting. We've managed to get a toll-free number for voice posts!|
We've been working on this for a while, so while we weren't expecting to have this ready for today, we figured that we might as well try. In particular, it hasn't been stressed under load -- there may be some bumps along the way. So with that in mind, please feel free to set up voice posting if you haven't done so already, and then call 1-888-840-6189 to make a voice post from anywhere in the continental United States. :)
(Unfortunately, if you aren't in the US, you won't be able to use this number. We're still looking for a good international provider -- if you have one you'd like to suggest, please let us know!)
EDIT: This is now our primary voiceposting number -- the existing numbers have proven to be incredibly unreliable, so we're migrating to just this number. Update your contacts lists!
EDIT EDIT: We'll be working on getting alternate numbers, for all of you who've commented saying that this one doesn't work for you (for whatever reason). Keep an eye on news :)
Though at least now I can make a phone post when I'm on vacation XD
*waves her flag as well* Gah Canada shouldn't be THAT! hard we're RIGHT! next door! I *know* there are providors that do us/canada togeather *grumbles*
Canadian here. The 12th one.
I'm sorry. but I'm bloody TIRED of waiting. I've been waiting since you guys first set this up!!!! This is ridiculous. I'm paying for lj, and I don't get to use all the features? What a load of crap.
Don't get me wrong, I love my lj-land, but.... Canada is right next door! How hard is it to get a number? Step it up people.
I just looked into mobile posting options the other day and was momentarily excited by the phone post option. Far too costly for Canadians. Hope you can figure something out....
Vonage, Shaw, CCNet... All of them have plans for calling to the US for free for like $40 a month...
Adding to the Canadian end. I've used the Buffalo phone post number in the past, but if this current 'solution' isn't going to let me use the feature, I want a credit for my paid account. I've been paying for YEARS, and right now I really need this feature for a project I'm doing.
It's been DAYS now. I want free days for all the days this feature has been down, and further, I at least want it as it was (I have a cheap rate calling card and don't mind paying 5 cents a minute to phone post. I just want to be able to fucking do so, period.)
Seconded on the credit request, especially since it's now been weeks.
Similarly. You take away the one I paid to use, and was happy with, and replace it with one I can't use, though it's free. What bloody good does it do me that it's free if I can't USE it?

Joining the Canadian bandwagon!
I love your Mountie icon. :)
I would think that LJ could set something up with Bell, given that it does serve the majority of Canada, doesn't it? (At the very least they could've given us a North American 800 number and not just a U.S.-based one! Le sigh.)

Re: Joining the Canadian bandwagon!
Yeah, I am really tired of this sort of nonsense. Our international telephone country code in Canada is 1, just like the US, so why couldn't the toll free number be set up properly in the first place?
I was only recently wondering if I should check again to see if they'd sorted it out yet, but considering your comment just came in a day or two ago, I guess that's my answer!!
I know I can't really complain, because I have a Permanent Account, but all of the paid users who are getting ripped off should be up in arms about now. Besides, I have a chronic illness that sometimes makes it hard for me to even get to my computer, and I've always found it very helpful to just reach for my phone and leave a post for my friends. Errrgh. This is beyond frustrating now!
