Userpic selector [Aug. 3rd, 2006|03:38 pm]
Paid Members

[Current Mood |excitedexcited]

We’ve just added a fun new feature for Paid and Permanent account holders: the userpic selector! To try it out, just hit the new “Browse” button next to your userpic dropdown on the Update Journal, Edit Entry and “Quick Reply” comment forms.

You can scroll through thumbnail previews of your userpics as well as search for them by keywords. This feature is an excellent tool for those of you who have a ton of userpics.

UPDATE: Some people have mentioned that they can't get the userpic selector to work when they're commenting on posts in communities. Please try reloading the page (SHIFT+Refresh, or clear your cache) to get the updated files, and try again.

Just FYI, using Firefox and on a PC, cable connection adn this is taking forever to load. Also, does it not work if you have custom comment pages because there was no "browse" button when I had my style enabled.

I have FF (newest version, upgraded this morning), a PC running XP, and cable (Comcast) and it's loading instantly. What do you mean by "custom comment pages"? I use one of the S2 styles (Gradient Strip) with the comment pages to match, and the "browse" button does appear in that.

My gripes: totally random order (well, it's not, because it's always the same), can't double-click to select, and gray insteaf of blue. But I love the idea and it's working really well for me.

I updated last night, and am having the same problem that apparently a lot of people are having. I think it's because I don't have the IE compatible extension enabled (and don't intend to)because that seems to be the common theme amongst those of us that can't use it.

And I agree, it would irk me if the icons were loading randomly and not in an organized manner (if I could see them in the first place). It should also be blue to match the rest of LJ's navigation features instead of this weid gray (which coincidentally matches that god awful nav strip)

I don't have the IE-compatible extension enabled. If I absolutely must use IE, I use IE. I don't want to contaminate Firefox with it.

Then I am officially out of ideas as to why it won't load for quite a few people. This is the first time I've ever had an issue with a feature not working on LJ and while I doubt I'll ever use it, I did want to try it out and see what all the fuss is over.

As for the custom comments, I have flexible squares and if I view the entry with 'style=mine' then the browse button simply isn't even there. Kind of squirrely and just one of those things they might want to test out with the various layouts LJ provides.
