Userpic selector [Aug. 3rd, 2006|03:38 pm]
Paid Members

[Current Mood |excitedexcited]

We’ve just added a fun new feature for Paid and Permanent account holders: the userpic selector! To try it out, just hit the new “Browse” button next to your userpic dropdown on the Update Journal, Edit Entry and “Quick Reply” comment forms.

You can scroll through thumbnail previews of your userpics as well as search for them by keywords. This feature is an excellent tool for those of you who have a ton of userpics.

UPDATE: Some people have mentioned that they can't get the userpic selector to work when they're commenting on posts in communities. Please try reloading the page (SHIFT+Refresh, or clear your cache) to get the updated files, and try again.

Awesome ~ I've wanted something like this for ages. Now I don't need to open a separate browser tab/window just to browse the userpics while writing a post.

Yeah, well it would be cool if it actually worked.

I'm on a PC with Win XP, and both IE and Firefox, and it works for neither of the two browsers. I click browse and ... nothing. The usual selection box just vanishes. When I click browse again, the selection box reappears. No thumbnails of my icons.

That's weird... WinXP Pro here with Firefox (newest version), and it works just fine for me. They suggested in the news post that you clear cache, etc, and try refreshing?

I love this, thanks guys :)
A few things:
+it would be nice to have them in some sort of order, such as alphabetical like it is in the drop-down menu.
+double clicking on the image to select that for your icon.
+being able to move the pop-up window (this isn't a huge biggie, though)

It would be useful if it had the pictures in some sort of logical order. Also, if you could actually control which keyword it posted with. Most of my icons are given at least three different keywords but it just picks one at random. Until that's sorted out, it's a completely useless feature for me.

Bugged in IE

I've been waiting for something like this for quite sometime, however, I think its slightly bugged in IE. Instead of having the popup appear in the center of the screen (like it does in FF1.5 for me), it pops up at the very begining/top of the page. This is just a minor annoyance. This is happening in both IE6/XP and IE7/Vista for me.

Neat! :D A nice and useful addition to lj. ♥

Sometimes I feel like you guys are just adding things haphazardly to make it look like you're working on stuff, but this actually is handy. :D
