The three months of bonus paid time offer that we announced with the launch of automatic payments ends this Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 11:59 pm Pacific. Anyone with active paid account status on 8/14/05 (the date of the original announcement) is eligible to receive three months of bonus paid time when you switch your account to automatic payments and select the 12-month billing cycle. Read the fine print.

By the way, our auto-magical new system will take into account your remaining paid time and prorate your charges. For example, if you have six months of remaining paid time and you sign up for automatic payments on a 12-month billing cycle, then you’ll have a total of 15 months of paid time and only be charged $9.98 (half of $19.95). Automatic payments can only be setup using a credit or debit card.

Update: For those of you who have taken advantage of this promotion, you can visit the paid account manage page to see when your 3 months of bonus time will apply. Your "next bill amount" may show a non-zero amount but instead of a charge the promotion time will be applied. At the end of the 3 month promotion time your regular billing cycle will resume.

Yes, it's actually surprising how the general public is supposed to know everything about how these cards work with absolutely no information, "manuals" or anything... Y'know; a lot of people would benefit hugely from a small explanatory letter (just one page would do) along with their card. (I work in customer services for a web-based company, and a lot of the calls are just about people who have trouble using their cards, and mainly not out of stupidity but just because they have no way of knowing this sort of thing...)
