Our thoughts and best wishes go out to all of our LiveJournal family affected by Hurricane Katrina. To help take one of the worries off the minds of our users in the affected areas, we've extended any paid accounts held by anyone who lives in the areas by one month, to prevent anyone from losing time during disruptions, outages, and other problems.

If you know of anyone in the affected areas who didn't receive an email from us this afternoon, please have them contact us at accounts@livejournal.com so we can help them out. Our system let us identify most of the accounts affected, but not all.

Would you consider posting a list of LJ-paid users in New Orleans who have upcoming expirations? So that others might be able to donate money to buy them their next year of paid LJ?

That's cool. Even cooler, if you could arrange it, would be a way of marking accounts of people from the area as "confirmed safe" by anyone on their friends list who might've talked to them. There are lots of lists being compiled, especially at http://katrinahelp.info/ of missing people and people confirmed safe, but here on LJ a lot of people may be wondering about people they know only by LJ name, and wouldn't know what real name to search for.

Did you do that for the people in the areas affected by the Indonesian tsunami?

That's not to say I don't think this a sweet idea, but I don't remember any posts mentioning that you'd done something like this for them.

I mean, I don't even know of any LJ users who live there, but I'm sick of these outrageous double standards that separate America from every other disaster-struck country in the world.

so let me get this straight:
1. you don't live in the US or Indonesia.
2. you don't know of any LJ users in Indonesia.
3. you are outraged because an american company offers to compensate users who could not use their service in america.

Here's a big "go to hell" from me in south mississippi to you.
