3 bonus months [Aug. 15th, 2005|02:12 pm]
Paid Members

To coincide with the launch of automatic payments announced in the latest news post, we are providing an exclusive offer for existing paid account holders (as of 8/14/05). Get three months of bonus paid time when you switch your account to automatic payments and select the 12-month billing cycle. This offer ends October 15, 2005. Read the fine print.

By the way, our auto-magical new system will take into account your remaining paid time and prorate your charges, so if you have six months of remaining paid time and you sign up for automatic payments on a 12-month billing cycle, then you’ll have a total of 15 months of paid time and only be charged $9.98 (half of $19.95).

So, if I have almost a month left of paid time, will the first automatic payment go through today or a month from now? I'm thinking right away, but I want to be positive before I sign up. :-)

Oh, and have the problems everyone's been having with paying been fixed yet? I don't want to try to sign up until it's fixed...

If you have a month left, you will pay for 11 months now. And then get payment due today of next year for the next year.

For those of us who rarely have money in our bank accounts ,,,

Will there be notifications a few days before the auto-renew processes? 'Cause I'm unlikely to remember that it's 16 Aug. (or whatever date) a year form now and make sure I have $20 in my checking to cover it.

If there will be e-mailed notifications, I'm all about this. Otherwise, I'll spend the extra $5 a year to not have auto-withdrawal occur unexpectedly.

Re: For those of us who rarely have money in our bank accounts ,,,

Right now, you can only use a credit card for automatic payments. We'll look into adding direct checking withdrawal in the future.

We send an email notification to confirm the automatic payment, but that happens right when the transaction occurs.

This is so totally cool so I tried it and got

Please enter the full card owner's name.

I've quadruple checked and it's definitely the right name. Any idea what's going on? Might be the fact that I don't live in the US though...

I just tried to switch over to automatic payments and got this same message. And I live in the US. ??

I will wait to see if my account got charged first and if not, will try again later.

Will there be a liklihood of being able to use PayPal for this sometime before Oct 15th? I would like to use this (despite being very confused), but also don't want to put any money on my credit card.

My account expires on the Jan 21, 2006. If I were to pay today, and put on the userpic bonus, how much would I pay -now-? Would I get the userpics immediately, or would I have to wait til Jan? And when would my renewal date be? 15 months from now?

Apologies for all the questions, but I read all the previous threads and was not more clear.

We're not going to have PayPal as an option before October 15th. We're thinking about it, but PayPal doesn't make automatic payments very easy or graceful for anyone.

If you signed up for a 12-month account today, you be charged for 7/12 of $19.95 since you have about 5 months of paid time still. You'd also get 3 bonus months, so your next expiration would be 15 months from now.

Hmm, I had ~6 months remaining paid time, I signed up today, the system charged me ~$10 and said my credit card will be automatically billed $19.95 on Aug 16, 2006.

And where're the promised 3 free months???

What kind of security does this system of stored CC numbers have? Ezboard was recently hacked and heavily damaged. Thank goodness they DIDN'T store credit card info. Sorry if I'm skeptical, but I'm not sure that this is that great a trade off.

Will Visa Electron cards/Switch Solo/Paypal be accepted before the offer runs out? I've spent loads on LJ since I've been here, so I'd kind of like to get 3 months free paid time! :P

Well, I attempted to sign up yesterday. But because your creditcard system had issues with IE, it didn't go through. Sure, you guys got it fixed, but now it's the 16th, offer is expired. So, no point in signing up now, huh?
