Paid Time Reimbursement [Jun. 30th, 2004|05:58 pm]
Paid Members

paidmembers

[jproulx]
In light of the rough periods we've experienced during the past couple of weeks, outgrowing our network topology & being attacked in a Distributed Denial of Service, we thought it only fair to give back some of your paid time.

Those of you who had a paid account during the month of June are eligible for an instant 2 weeks of free service, even if your paid account has since expired. Alternatively, if you have plans to purchase 6 or 12 months of service during the next week, you're eligible to receive 2 additional months of service for free. Both offers can be found for the next 7 days on the Paid Time Reimbursement page, and they apply to any eligible account you manage (communities, etc).

We apologize for the recently spotty service, but as always we're working hard to overcome these challenges.

We'd like to clarify that the 2 month option is only available for payments that have been fully processed, so it can take a while for the reimbursement page to update with the proper option. If you only see the 2 week option on the reimbursement page, either refresh the page or wait until your payment has totally cleared (Our credit card processing should be instant, but PayPal payments can sometimes take hours to clear).

Note: We're still running into some issues checking for accounts that have expired in the past month, and there are still some instances where people are getting "you are ineligible" errors. We're working as fast as we can to fix these problems, so please be patient. I'll update this post again when I have more information.

Update: We've made a couple of changes for eligibility checks, so if you were getting the "you are ineligible" error before you should try again.

I just renewed for 6 months earlier today...Does that mean I don't get the two months?

Very similar question...

I renewed my account on the 22nd, a few hours after it expired...

I'm very grateful for the reimbursement, but I almost feel like I'm being punished for having faith in you guys (a month and a half is no small deal to me).

Sorry if I'm coming across whiny or ungracious; it's not meant that way at all!

Keep up the good work. You're being awfully good sports about all the crap that's been coming your way lately.

Same boat

I renewed two days ago in the midst of the problems. Two months?

Re: Same boat

I also renewed on the 28th... maybe a week on each side of yesterday could warrant the 2 months? Not that I mind the 2 weeks... Just figured I could ask.

*echos Halomouse and Justhuman*

My account was expiring as well, and I just purchsed 6 months on the 23rd, plus user pics... It'd be really nice if all paid members were allowed to get the two months extra time, not just the ones who renew after the problem is (mostly) fixed.

Dude, I think I actually echo that statement. It'd be nice if all paid members got the two month extra time myself.

un poco de logica

I'm pretty sure the reason all users aren't eligable for two months extra time is because not all users pay for an account in 6-12 month increments. It wouldn't be fair to give someone that paid $5 for a 2 month paid account the same 2 free months as someone that paid $25 months for a year paid account.

Even if you paid account time doesn't expire for 6 months, you could take advantage of this by paying in the next week, and getting your free 2 months.

Re: un poco de logica

Yes, it's only a little logic, but I use what I have. :-}

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I just paid in a six-month increment, as I usually do. And, I didn't really comment because it was important to me, I commented because of all the complaints I've seen and heard in the last two weeks. Six months ahead is all I ever plan, as my health isn't what it could be and it would be a waste to pay more and then never see the use of it. But, I do know a lot of people who would be mollified more than a little by that two months of paid time. Then, if they were happier, they wouldn't keep fussing and I'd not have to read how annoyed they were anymore. lol

Same query..

I purchased a 12month account on the 28th- obviously I'm grateful for the 2 weeks but if I'd waited two more days I could have got an extra 2 months?? that hardly seems fair. Sorry to sound selfish but in all honesty- if I'd know you guys were going to be doing this offer that's what I would have done!

really the same question

I renewed my paid account for 12 months all of 25 minutes before this was posted. So could I still get the two months? I figure I can ask at least.

I also renewed less than 24 hours ago, since I felt bad for lj for being on the receiving end of an internet beatdown, plus I remembered to finally cash in my invite codes. Yet it seems all I get is two weeks, which kind of sucks.

How do you get to the invite codes to cash them in?

I know I have them, but never figured out how to cash them in...

This is the cash-in page. I don't know if you can still generate codes or not, or for that matter, if you even need to generate them to cash them in.
