Paid Time Reimbursement [Jun. 30th, 2004|05:58 pm]

[jproulx]
In light of the rough periods we've experienced during the past couple of weeks, outgrowing our network topology & being attacked in a Distributed Denial of Service, we thought it only fair to give back some of your paid time.

Those of you who had a paid account during the month of June are eligible for an instant 2 weeks of free service, even if your paid account has since expired. Alternatively, if you have plans to purchase 6 or 12 months of service during the next week, you're eligible to receive 2 additional months of service for free. Both offers can be found for the next 7 days on the Paid Time Reimbursement page, and they apply to any eligible account you manage (communities, etc).

We apologize for the recently spotty service, but as always we're working hard to overcome these challenges.

We'd like to clarify that the 2 month option is only available for payments that have been fully processed, so it can take a while for the reimbursement page to update with the proper option. If you only see the 2 week option on the reimbursement page, either refresh the page or wait until your payment has totally cleared (Our credit card processing should be instant, but PayPal payments can sometimes take hours to clear).

Note: We're still running into some issues checking for accounts that have expired in the past month, and there are still some instances where people are getting "you are ineligible" errors. We're working as fast as we can to fix these problems, so please be patient. I'll update this post again when I have more information.

Update: We've made a couple of changes for eligibility checks, so if you were getting the "you are ineligible" error before you should try again.

I ordered a 6-month account renewal last week, but I mailed in a check. I understand that it could take a while for the payment to be processed. Will the 2 month offer still apply upon receipt, or should I just take the 2 weeks while it's available?

My account just expried a few hours ago, and I was pissed because I didn't have the extra 2 weeks. But I tried it again, and it worked.

So maybe you have to wait until your accoutn expires to do it? Not sure.

I ordered 6 months on July 1st, and I'm still getting the "you are ineligible" thing when I click the link. Help? :(

I paid for 6 months and it's still saying that my community is not eligible for paid time reimbursment. I'm not even getting the 2 week option. I keep checking back, but nothing has changed. I would like the 2 month option for _makeupstudio_. That is the only reason I paid for more time right now. My current paid time had not yet expired.

What do I do?

Please respond to my question!

And again I ask...

What about those of us that managed to pay for another 6 months paid account during that time period when LJ was having so many problems? It was down and then when it was back up briefly, a day or two before this announcement probably, I went ahead and renewed my paid account which was set to expire on 7-3-2004, then LJ went down again.

Why am I not eligible for 2 months as opposed to 2 weeks? I am being punished (sort of) for renewing my subscription a few days early?!

Re: Please respond to my question!

Well I see the 2 months thing more as a 'incentive' for those that do not have paid accounts, or those that have not re-upped, to reup at 6-12 month accounts.

Its basically a discount to get more people to sign up. Not really a thank you for all the trouble that we had to put up with.

Hi, I paid for 6 months earlier today (previously a free user) and the page still says I'm ineligible. I paid w/ credit card a few hours ago and can use all other paid functions. Any idea how much longer it will take to show that I'm eligible?

You're not getting 2 months..it was only for folks that already had paid memberships that had expired.

You didnt know? Join the others that also bought memberships thinking they we're getting 2 months.

Still getting ineligibility messages, for both of my journals (eyesofachild and clearobscurity. The money certainly came out of my bank account, and I have all of my paid user functions, but still the message. Heck, I bought my paid membership earlier than I'd planned to because of the extra two months. Meh. Frustrating.
