Paid Time Reimbursement [Jun. 30th, 2004|05:58 pm]

[jproulx]
In light of the rough periods we've experienced during the past couple of weeks, outgrowing our network topology & being attacked in a Distributed Denial of Service, we thought it only fair to give back some of your paid time.

Those of you who had a paid account during the month of June are eligible for an instant 2 weeks of free service, even if your paid account has since expired. Alternatively, if you have plans to purchase 6 or 12 months of service during the next week, you're eligible to receive 2 additional months of service for free. Both offers can be found for the next 7 days on the Paid Time Reimbursement page, and they apply to any eligible account you manage (communities, etc).

We apologize for the recently spotty service, but as always we're working hard to overcome these challenges.

We'd like to clarify that the 2 month option is only available for payments that have been fully processed, so it can take a while for the reimbursement page to update with the proper option. If you only see the 2 week option on the reimbursement page, either refresh the page or wait until your payment has totally cleared (Our credit card processing should be instant, but PayPal payments can sometimes take hours to clear).

Note: We're still running into some issues checking for accounts that have expired in the past month, and there are still some instances where people are getting "you are ineligible" errors. We're working as fast as we can to fix these problems, so please be patient. I'll update this post again when I have more information.

Update: We've made a couple of changes for eligibility checks, so if you were getting the "you are ineligible" error before you should try again.

misleading

Um.

I read this to mean that if you paid for a six month account in the next 7 days you'd get the two weeks free. Aparrently not. This is a bit misleading.

Re: misleading

Nah, the post said "Alternatively". As in "get the two weeks" or "get the two months", not both.

Honesty always makes for a great relationship. I appreciate this fact that LJ is doing so for it's customers. =)

Re: I'm confused...

Well, I couldn't get the 2 month deal, because the credit card wasn't being accepted so I have to pay by check. :( Thus, I just took the two week deal - but that is nice too! :)

It's really nice of you folks at Live Journal to do this. :) Thanks a ton!

I read through 6 of 20 pages of comments and can't read any more but wonder if you have any goodies up your sleeves for Permanent Account holders?

I just sent a payment by mail. I doubt it will reach you by the seventh of July, but it should be postmarked before then; Canada post's next pickup is on Monday morning, so my money order can't get there any faster. Will I be able to get the two extra months once you've received it? (I have not claimed the two weeks.)

I bought this journal for 6 months yesterday (the 3rd of July) and I'm still receiving the "you are ineligible" message when I try to get the 2 months extra. I paid via credit card, and everything else has shown up (my icons, etc).

I was wondering if this might have something to do with the fact that I was already checked the "two weeks" on my usual journal (dried_red_roses).

Thanks,
Cai

I just renewed my account for a year after it expired today and it says I'm ineligible to get any paid time.

I guess I'll keep trying. I just don't want to miss out on the two weeks months. I'll take the two weeks at least! LOL

I accidentally clicked the 'two weeks' thing before my PayPal payment processed -- would it be possible to remove two weeks and add two months (or, add a month and a half I guess)?

Thanks :)

Speaking of paid accounts, I had a question regarding those of us who ordered one in June. I sent payment in almost a month ago, with all the needed indentification and order slips, yet there has still been no change in my account.

Is it possible that in all the server ups and downs, site changes, etc. that updates may have possible been overlooked for some users? Should I speak to one of the maintainers of this site regarding it, or should I simply just overlook the loss of the $25 and simply re-order another paid account?

I purchased a 6 month account on June 30th, am I eligible for the extended 2 months? I received the 2 weeks, but I am being told I am not eligible for anything else. It's been 6 days since I purchased it, and I want to take advantage before the week ends.

Thanks...
