In light of the rough periods we've experienced during the past couple of weeks, outgrowing our network topology & being attacked in a Distributed Denial of Service, we thought it only fair to give back some of your paid time.

Those of you who had a paid account during the month of June are eligible for an instant 2 weeks of free service, even if your paid account has since expired. Alternatively, if you have plans to purchase 6 or 12 months of service during the next week, you're eligible to receive 2 additional months of service for free. Both offers can be found for the next 7 days on the Paid Time Reimbursement page, and they apply to any eligible account you manage (communities, etc).

We apologize for the recently spotty service, but as always we're working hard to overcome these challenges.


We'd like to clarify that the 2 month option is only available for payments that have been fully processed, so it can take a while for the reimbursement page to update with the proper option. If you only see the 2 week option on the reimbursement page, either refresh the page or wait until your payment has totally cleared (Our credit card processing should be instant, but PayPal payments can sometimes take hours to clear).

Note: We're still running into some issues checking for accounts that have expired in the past month, and there are still some instances where people are getting "you are ineligible" errors. We're working as fast as we can to fix these problems, so please be patient. I'll update this post again when I have more information.

Update: We've made a couple of changes for eligibility checks, so if you were getting the "you are ineligible" error before you should try again.

I have tried to go to the reimburment page, and I AM logged in, but LJ keeps telling me I need to log in. How can I sign up for this when LJ won't recognized me as logged in?

I can't access the Paid Time Reimbursement page. I'm logged in to LJ, but when on that particular page I'm always logged out.

It's the same with the Paid Accounts and Payment Area pages as well.

As of 7:45 EDT on 7/1, I can't get my reimbursement, even though my account expired on 6/22 and I didn't renew due to all the problems.

According to the update above, this problem was thought to be fixed.

Is it just me? Do you hate me!? *giggle*

Just renewed for a year and it's been fully processed etc. but the reimbursement page is still telling me that I'm not eligible for anything, dammit....poot!

OK- I paid for 6 more months so that I could get 2 months free, but now it only says that I expire on 08/24/2004. After I paid via Payapl, the button never changed to say "Extend for 2 months"....it stayed as "Extend for two weeks", so I pressed it anyway, because I had no other button to press. Please let me know who I need to contact to fix this. And thanks so much- it was great of you to do this for us. That's one reason why I love LJ :)

Yo, I had 2 months of paid service that ended on June 27th, but it still says that I'm not eligible for the extra weeks of paid time. Just wondering why. Thanks! ;)

Thanks for the generous offer! You guys are great! I am running into a snag with the page though.....

My account expires in August. When I click the link for the Paid Time Reimbursement page - it tells me.....

From time to time when we feel it necessary we offer free paid time extensions to our paid users who were affected by long periods of site slowness/downtime.

You are not currently eligible to receive any paid time.


Any ideas why this would be?
