This toy is back:

It uses all our new fast stuff this time. Hopefully it holds up longer than it did last time. :-)

Thanks Brad. I had written a perl script to do it manually (I had gotten my friends info pages via wget and then parsed the resulting mess) and then all the sudden its back! ;)

Be warned: we now ban people crawling userinfo.bml pages, since we now provide that data in a better format.

See:

http://www.livejournal.com/bots/

You can crawl FOAF and fdata, but not userinfo.bml

Nice toy, wondered when that would come back.

Wouldn't it make sence for it to remove the person that is asking from the list it produces tho? Isn't that kind of pointless?

Depends. If you list a lot of people and nobody lists you back, you're not that popular and won't show up on the list.

Any chance of getting back the "you have most interests in common with" listing? I found that most useful...

But this is a nice addition, thanks. I appreciate all the hard work you do on LJ.

I too miss that feature. It's great for finding other users who have similar interests.

Most of the people on my friends list I have because of that feature.

Hopefully LJ will read this and add the feature back.

maybe i'm missing something...

Being at the top of the list just means that all your friends have friended you back.

And everyone else on the list is a friend you have in common with 2 or more of your friends.

Maybe it would be more interesting if I had more friends, ha

Re: maybe i'm missing something...

It will also list people who you don't have on your friends list, but are friends of friends
