We've gone from 17 to 455 phone numbers available. They're all east coast still, but we're working on others.

http://www.livejournal.com/phonepost/numbers.bml

States covered: Connecticut | Delaware | Dist. of Columbia | Florida | Georgia | Maine | Maryland | Massachusetts | New Hampshire | New Jersey | New York | Pennsylvania | Rhode Island | Vermont | Virginia

Mad props to the coolest phone company I've had the pleasure of working with:

http://www.voicepulse.com/

Everybody should get a VoIP phone from them because they're cool. (I'm drooling at their "Filters" functionality....) Unfortunately I'm in Portland, OR, outside of their coverage area, so I can't get their service.

Anyway, we're working on numbers in other parts of the world and the states. If you work at a phone company that can setup trunk numbers in your region to a VoIP/SIP/IAX connection on our end, get in contact with me at brad@danga.com .

Enjoy!

1-800

I think one 1-800 number would be really good for the rural living people like myself, I live in East Kentucky and I doubt that there will be a livejournal number brought here.

That's funny...the town where I went to college (Lyndonville, VT) of about 1200 people have a nummber they can call...and nothing yet for the St Louis, MO metro area. :)

Not that I'm complaigning mind you...just a funny observation. :)

This is all a great idea but have you considered that some of the numbers you are "buying" are too close together. For example, in Boca, you can call Deerfield, Delray and Boynton, and they are all local calls, therefore eliminating those extra numbers would give you more money for more in other states.

So, it looks like none of the phone numbers are working right now. Just tried (after looking at my cell phone registry) 66 phone numbers from various states, and none of them connect. I also tried a good amount (maybe 30) with my landline.

Unfortunately, there's no service status featured on the VoicePlus.com website. Anyone know if the numbers are now innactive for any reason, or if their service is down?

is there going to be a way to restrict who can transpose stuff? i had some problems with people "transposing" stuff that i'd never said, and because some people didnt actually listen to the audiopost, they didnt know that the transcription was wrong.

also, i dont think the friends only bit works....

Dare I ask why it's necessary to have 12 numbers for Philadelphia? Seems like a waste...
