the link to the second image doesn't work
and as I posted that it got fixed
That is a REALLY hot style!!!
Had component for about two weeks now. Check it out...
I've been using component for a while as well. Thanks, guys, it looks great!
Is it possible to modify Component so that it doesn't double-space text in entries and comments?
I am not very computer savvy but the new styles for paid LJ users are just what the doctor ordered!
i've been using component and I'm very happy with it (minus the fact that the foreground/background colors don't REALLY show up on the friends page...). don't care for Boxer too much, though I like the friends page.
one complaint...might it be possible to try out new styles and if you don't like the new one, go back to your previous one and NOT have to REcustomize everything? all my customized colors are gone!!
I've switched to S2 before and switched back and all my old overrides and stuff are still there, or do you mean not have to recostumized component?
so i'm getting frustrated with this S2 business.
i use the S2 system and select everything that I want for my journal and no matter what I get stuck with generator and the default colors. any way to fix this?
Had that problem for a little while, too. I just kept updating till it started to change my customizations, though it took awhile...
I'm confused by all the names for things you set colours for. Why can the not be the same as the ones for S1? Okay, so there's more... or maybe I'm just stupid for not knowing which bit is an accented area, or what the caption bar is. Maybe you should make an image with little arrows pointing to each section... I would be eternally grateful :)
I just want to use the S2 system with my S1 colours, but don't have the time for trial and error.

My take on the "Wai Not?"
I don't know if you've ever seen the 'guts' of an S1 style or an S2 style, but I hope this makes some sense when I finish.
At the heart of S1 is a rather primitive system. Many styles for S1 embedded the colours and changes directly in the page. This isn't the best thing to do for accessibility (I've ran across a few journals I can not read - My vision goes stupid on 6 and 8 pixel fonts), as it can disable some accessibility features (Said journals, I couldn't resize their text with my browser's magnifier).
S2, however... was built so differently that it shares way too little with S1. CSS is the order of the day in that particular house, making it much more accessible for those who may have limited vision, among other things.
Hope this makes sense.
As per the S1 -> S2 switch, I might be able to help you. :)
I'll take some time now, to see if I can make your S1 colours work in S2, and if you like it, I can help you put this all in place. :)

Those styles look pretty nice, and the S2 system seems very cool.
My only beef is that changes are commited to the journal straight away without allowing you to preview your new but unfinished look before going live.
Just a question... how do you add Link navagation to the Boxer layout, like in the picture above?
