did you see this comment? other people could vote for livejournal - people who don't use either blogger OR livejournal. and if they read those comments in the top left when clicking on 'blogger' and see that a lj user has posted something like this..well i just think it makes us -all- look bad.
livejournal is great. deadjournal is great. blogger sucks.
post 59 of 60
blogger sucks so much dick. i can't believe how much assfuckingish it is.
I just went and checked the recent vote. We're in the lead with 25% of the votes in the Personal site catagory! Hot Damn!
I followed someone else's advice and put a post that will be at the top of my journal until the votes are done. I'm trying my best.
Yeah, but Blogger is catching up... do all you can do to hold them right where they are. You can do about as much as me to stop em cold... you can post to communities and let people know what is going on and how they can help, for instance. I could really use a few dozen people willing to do this and get the word out for us.
Thanks for all the help! It is really needed right now and is very, very appreciated!
is this a joke? did someone ACTUALLY write in the paidmembers journal? i am shocked! this is the most neglected journal by the team members of live journal. and i find it weird that they come to us now just for us the vote for them when they havent done anything for us. the paid members. what ever happened to the secret project that brad was talking about...? how come all journals templates are available to everyone now when they were special to just paid members. all in all, i still love live journal more then anything in the world, I just wish they would do more for the paid member instead of just coming to us when they need something. then again, i dont want to start anything, i still like lj, its my favorite, i just wish they would do more for us. tell me, is there something brad and the folks that they are doing in the background that we dont know about?
it was anouced a few weeks ago
the secret project was http://www.livejournal.com/portal/
, which is almost done but not quite finished. It was announced in some of the other news/dev/biz-related journals, I believe. It's very helpful and will be even more so when all the features Brad's working on are added.
If you watched any of the dev logs recently, you'd realize just how much work Brad has done in the past week fixing up little things that needed done.
We've only got a handful of people doing the actual livejournal coding, and I think they're doing a great job so far.
The secret project that Brad was talking about is still under development, because it's a big thing. Brad just finished his finals, so it's understandable why he had to stop it halfway.
I will tell you now, the big new secret feature is really damn cool!
As for extra features coming up for paid members, there are a ton of them, especially the image server! Lots of coding is going on right now, and several extra features will be released by the end of the summer.
I guess it's time for a little pseudospammin' ? ;)
Why not also vote for LJ in the categories of "living"(isn't that we're doing on here?), "humor" and "weird" Have you read some of these journals?
Basically we had to concentrate somewhere, and the LiveJournal users had already concentrated on those three fields. We were the largest write-in in all three of those fields.
Besides... it would sound kinda silly to ask people to write us in for everything! ;)
WHAT?!!!! SILLY YOU SAY?!!!! HA!
I read this on Blogger...
"The reason your vote is important is because a certain other personal publishing site has very actively in poking and prodding its users to help them "beat Blogger." That seems to be their mission in life. That's fine. I don't want to get in the whole Us versus Them thing. They do good work, and anyone enabling personal publishers is cool in my book. But man, they're just so dang cocky..."
Well, is this true? Shouldn't we all be on the same side? It's not like we're fighting for advertising space...I dunno, I have pride, but why has this always been us against blogger? I remember one your posts about all of telling seven of our friends etc...
Can't we all be friends?
Yes I voted, but I felt dirty...
on the other hand, doesn't that make it sound as if they are trying to get a pity vote as well? by not mentioning who is trying to beat them, they make it seem as if they are the heroes overall and causes you to feel kind of bad to vote for the "other personal publishing site". LJ's place in the Webby's has been promoted as a "Hey, let's beat the big bad Blogger guys who have already gained recognition in the limelight. now it's our turn to show our stuff." meanwhile, blogger is trying to put a twist to it by not mentioning LJ and making us look bad by saying we're cocky. politicians do it with advertising all the time, so do businesses, social cliques, even sports teams. take it in stride and do what you wish. vote because you like LJ, not because you were asked to. even though we ask, we can't make you vote and in the end, your vote is your's alone. :)
Those who are watching the Webby Award vote and the commentary from Blogger might be interested in the following:An experiment in online journaling
We'll see who comes out ahead at the end of the week. :)
HELP: i am trying to help my mom vote now and I cant find LJ on the ballots!!! where is it? i cant even remember what part its under.
you have to write it in! Go to personal site, community and services and write , and enter LiveJournal and http://www.livejournal.com
into the add a nominee box!
Word to your mother!
I voted in all three catagories
I'm good @ asking stupid questons today...
Can more than one person vote from the same IP #?
Like you mentioned getting that dude's mom to vote, so could I get my 'rents & brother (err, and some imaginary friends w/ different e-mail addresses ;) to vote from the same computer?
That shouldn't matter. It's checked based on e-mail addresses, not where you vote from. I wouldn't recommend stuffing the ballot with imaginary people, though. That's a bit on the cheap side and if we won it wouldn't be a "clean" win.

That email address is already registered. The email address that you entered has already been registered. You may only register once.

That is really odd. Grrr!
We now interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for this special report:
Blogger users caught going through LiveJournal user profiles, taking e-mail addresses, registering them to vote for the Webbys, and voting for Blogger!
(Hey, it wouldn't surprise me in this day and age)
I just don't understand why this Blogger competition. I mean I use Blogger for my update page in my site and honestly it NEVER works properly, it's the most unreliable net service I have ever came accross!

This is the best site that I know .
