I can text to Twitter and Facebook. I'd also love to be able to text LJ.
It drives me bananas that I can't post to LJ from my phone by text but I *can* tweet and post to FB from it.
At least, I can't figure out how to. My carrier is not supported in the TXTLJ option.(Virgin Mobile USA)
For the life of me I can't figure out how to do the email post by phone either.

Speaking of TxtLJ, mine hasn't been working for about a week now. Is there an update going on that I completely missed or should I make a ticket/investigate as to why it's not working for me? >.>
I'm aware of some problems where Sprint is no longer working with TxtLJ. That's kind of what sparked this post - we don't really know how long it hasn't been working (we use a 3rd party SMS provider and don't have direct monitoring) and only got in a few complaints. That's when we looked up usage and found out that so few people used it.
If you're with a provider other than Sprint can you please let me know?
I don't use TxtLJ because I pay per message for SMS. (Ouch.)
This would be a barrier to use for me, too. Occasionally I get time-limited bundles of freebies, it would be nice if I could use those for LJ.
I'd love to use txtLJ but I'm in Canada and my carrier isn't supported.
I loved the feature when I was living in the US. Would love if you could make it possible for Canadians to use it.
I'm quite fond of the feature; it lets me update LJ from wherever I am and with my lifestyle it works out quite well.
I'd love to use it, but I'm in the UK and don't have the option.
I have an iPhone so I don't need to TxtLJ.
How about fixing the "picture posting via mobile?" I've had a ticket in since last year and again this past April and have not gotten a response. A huge part of the reason I pay for membership is for this feature alone.

This. I would love to be able to send mobile pics to LJ instead of twitpic or facebook...
My phone is web-enabled, so I can update my journal just by having that kind of access, so I don't need the Txt LJ. I can see how the service might be useful, however, for mobile users who don't have web-enabled phones.
I have a web enabled phone but it is so awkward and clunky that I'd much rather use txt.
I don't use it because I can only do 120 characters at a time on it, and if I'm gonna do something that small I may as well Tweet it instead of spamming my friends list with ten entries in a row that is only three sentences.
...but only when it comes to making entries via Txt LJ.
I like getting comment notifications, though I wish Txt LJ would do a Facebook and have a command for viewing the rest of the comment - and replying!
.. don't own a cellphone and I live in Canada so this feature is not something I use but I voted in the poll anyways.
I'm one of the few living in the stoneage whose phone is not connected to the internet so I love the option to post to LJ and facebook via text to update my journal when I am away from my computer.
*raises hand* This is me. I can't access LJ from work--it's blocked--and I occasionally have something happen that I have to post about. I also textLJ when I'm on vacation and have no access to a computer/the internet
because I'm obsessive and have posted every day since Sept 1, 2008 and can't stand the thought of missing a day.
I'm more interested in the idea of actually getting my notifications emailed to me. I haven't gotten any since before the start of July. And yes, I did check my settings.
I have a blackberry so I just go to the regular update page and it works like a charm. I don't use the "mobile lj" mode for it though because...idk I just don't like it as much. Same for viewing my flist. The format just puts me off. I like the way my blackberry naturally formats my flist for me.
That said, a cute app for blackberry would be nice as well.

We're really looking forward to a Blackberry app soon! I know it's on the schedule for this year.
In truth, I find this feature more redundant than anything. I don't use it personaly, but it's somewhat annoying to see the TxtLJ function used like a Twitter account to spam my flist with useless 160 character "entries". I'd be all for LJ getting rid of it and giving us something else in it's place.
OR, you could just drop the peeps that annoy you from your f-list!
I only post to LJ when I'm physically at the computer. Don't have text on my phone and don't want it either.
I don't feel i need text options and i'm not in the US so my mobile carrier wouldn't be supported.
I couldn't think of anything for the 3rd option when I filled out the poll, but I do now!
Buy livejournal.app, or work with them to make it an official thing. Alternatively, pay sema
for a port. Both are awesome.
I used this feature a LOT on a recent trip to DC. Mostly posting photos from my phone. Which all came with some weird HTML borkedness attached.
Also some never made it to LJ..but as those same photos never made it anyplace ELSE I blame ATT for that one, not LJ.
I update via email or directly from the webpage on my Palm Centro with Sprint as my provider
I use TxtLJ to update my journal, which then auto-crossposts to my Facebook.
I used to use Text to LJ until it quit working. (I have T-Mobile)
Now I have a twitter account for that and leave LJ for longer stuff that can't be blurbed.
I have a decimated Blackberry Pearl w/ T-Mobile (which is no longer internet capable), and I use Txt2LJ maybe once a month.
Things that go there are auto friendslocked, and sometimes I want to text something that may not belong on Twitter or Facebook :)
LJ is for long entries. Facebook and/or Twitter are for short ones. That's personally why I don't use it. But it would be nice for the ability to be expanded to non-US users if they want it.
I agree. I use Twitter for the short, what's going on right now stuff, and LJ for longer journal entries. (Since... it's a journal. Heh.)
I regularly text to Twitter on their international number, so you guys just need to set up an international number.
